I have also been to NYC which was dope- there was a hurricane when I was there! Bit of a non-happening it was tho. I'm trying to get back into painting, feels like a weak muscle Also working on a 'Polly' book. Polly is a character I invented in secondary school. Lucky Polly gets to go to art school in this. What's up bitches? Ahem...

I'm working on a 2 page spread for XEROGRAFIX II, a screenprinted arts newspaper made by Vicky Samuel ( I was in issue one with my Jay Z strip that I've used in a few things ( unprolific? Moi...?). The theme of this issue is the UK, so my comic is based on the controversial official investigation into Bloody Sunday which was released last year after a 10 year investigation http://www.bloody-sunday-inquiry.org/following the initial Widgery 'whitewash'. The incident which took place in 1972 began with a civil rights protest in Londonderry ( 'Derry' to nationalists) which ended in riots and then disaster and the loss of 13 civilian lives ( and one death after the shooting, possibly as a result of injuries received on the day) as a result of army fire.

I thought this would be an appropriate topic following the recent protests in London. I didn't actually attending the protest recently, but was working on Oxford Street at the time. Just a reminder that it's all fun and games till someone gets hurt. Also, as I'm a bit of a plastic paddy,- my parents are from Nor'n Ireland but I was raised in England, this topic is pretty important to me.

Completing the pictures is a bit of a bitch due to detail, having finally condensed the events of the day got THAT to sort out. But ahhhhweeelll only like, 12 frames to go...

So I went to Leeds yesterday ( 5 in the morn) for the 2nd Leeds Alternative Comics Fair organised by Gareth Brookes http://www.appallingnonsense.co.uk/ and Steve Tillotson ( http://www.banalpig.com/blog/). I didn't get a new comic printed in time for various reasons, so I just had a poor old 'contagious 1 and 2' , photocopied at Rymans, who didn't go down very well at all! I'm pretty new to this game and I felt quite shy around the shinier publications and drank my pints too quickly as a result and did a hard sell- har. Then I zoned out a bit...

Hope I wasn't TOOO whiney, I didn't even look around properly, felt a bit like a fish out of water. Hello boys and girls ( if anyone is really reading this) I am now living in East Lahndahn. Most inspiring. I'm working on some stuff for the upcoming Alternative Press Fair on the 28th Novemberhttp://www.alternativepress.org.uk/. Maybe I'll do a launch of my Contagious thing at some point too ( hint: Mr Chicken) , I want to extend the story to a full length thing,- need to get a crack on.

Also managed to get a mini internship at the awesome London Miles Gallery for the new show http://www.londonmiles.com/ which is opening next week. The group exhibition is called 'The Idol Hours' and feautures reworkings of classic paintings by contemporary artists. London Miles is pretty lush as it specifically spotlights illustrators, comics and graffiti artists and pop surrealist types- all the lowbrow low down and dirty artscummers. I've admired this shit for a while now. 'Citin times! Now if somone could bathe me and sing me to sleep before my ridiculously long commute to work in retail tomorrow, that would be maaahvellous. I went to Made, I talked to people, I drank cider and sold some envelopes with drawings on and a few other bits. Lowe is getting her Theda publication put in a library zine collection. Some people like our work. Max's friend crossed out the 'cakes' in a sign that said '2 cakes for £2.50' and wrote ' balls'and put it over his flies. Some people were annoyed about this. Umm, it was a weird day. It was in a 'club' which looked more like a weird small village hall and it was mainly scenesters, artists and scenester artists. Also, I find it weird when people start filming you but don't say anything about it, and become very self conscious about the conversation. I also finally met Vicky from Xerografix and see her screenprinted paper which also features my Jay Z strip. We shared a table :). I also met the London 'comix are the new rock n roll' people and talked bollocks to them. They were nice. We got a group portrait drawn by a girl who was filling in at the illustration photo booth and said' i used to do illustration but i can't draw'. I liked it. She drew patterns all over us. I talked to Johnson about God.

I will also be selling day 3 ( and possibly 4 )of 'Day One' written by Clare Lowe, drawn by moi. And... a smidgen of work all written and drawn and coloured and smudged and printed and sat on by myself. At the moment I have a half formulated story called 'B-Bird' and a few odd pictures and such.If you have any wisdom on the enchantment of girls by birds, or about blackbirds and magpies in general, don't hesitate to bore yourself and me to death by passing on the indispensable information.

I may resurrect an old character called 'Polly Wolly Doodle', possibly for my blackbird story that i've been mulling over. I am resisting putting it up as it is so excruciatingly adolescent. But ahwell, maybe I will anyway for a good larf. I'm now gonna go back to drowning in the mess that is my old room/ family dump.

I enjoyed a lot of this exhibition. I particularly liked seeing Ray Caesar's ( as featured here- 'Love Letters')computer generated (Maya) pictures. The skin upclose is lickable. I also liked a lot of the more traditional aesthetics of some of the more painterly pieces like Korin Faught's 'Bonnet', infused with contemporary pop culture. It broke up the obvious choices nicely methought. It's on till August in the museum up the top of Park Street.

I don't mean to overload this blog with a load of old work but if anyone wants some original artwork the most i will charge is 60 dibs (for a big painting), lowest a 10er for a picture.Or less if I like you, maybe even less.

If you like these there are also a few more. Very colourful, I like the use of orange... . They need good homes and they don't want to sit in a dark wardrobe forever. Release them into Narnia or help them out of the closet or something. P.S Also Etsy is pissing me off- I don't own a credit card and don't intend to so how do I register, eh?! Oh and I will do commissions -bend me, shape me, I need dollar and validation.

One year ago tomorrow it was my degree show. Ugh. Here is some of the work I showed, as indicated to by my lovely assistant, Fran. I just found a whole bunch of these zombie love drawings in photocopied A5 zine form with a lil story that was my publication requirement.
